| Cheap Thrills vs. Limitless Joy
"...This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: 'I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul. I gave your master's house to you, and your master's wives into your arms. I gave you the house of Israel and Judah. And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more. Why did you despise the word of the Lord by doing what is evil in his eyes?'..."
2 Samuel 12:7-9
These verses keep sticking out to me. This message from God to David happens after he committed adultery with Bathsheba and sent her husband off to his death. God provided David with everything he could have ever dreamed of and yet he still turns from God to pursue lesser things. God's favor and blessing have been on David his entire life and God still declares that even "if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more."
It is so strange how God would do so much for someone so insignificant in comparison. It is also equally strange that people who say they love God and really mean it still fall under the temptation of "wordly things" in life. If God is really God then everything He is is so much better than anything we could possibly think of. Why give up eternal peace, joy, happiness, love, etc. for the cheap thrills that the world has to offer? Easy lesson to know and understand. Extremely difficult lesson to truly believe and live by. What a journey life is. |

| Forgiveness
Forgiveness is a beautiful thing that has a great sense of joy and freedom in it. There is the feeling of gratitude and relief from being forgiven and the lightness of being freed from bitterness when forgiving. It's the beginning of a fresh new start.
